| Doyle's Pour House 210 W. Main St. (Route 9) Tuckerton, NJ 08087 (609) 296-3373 After leaving Mystic Islands Casino in Little Egg Harbor, we headed over to Doyle’s Pour House, and it was a huge difference. It had the feel of a bar that one might find in a larger city. The bar was very dark. The walls and the bar were stained dark brown. There weren’t too many beer signs up other than a few mirrors and a neon sign here and there. There was no NASCAR related items anywhere to be seen. There were a few sports flags hanging from the ceiling, but they were rather inconspicuous. Lights with thin red and orange glass shades hung from the ceiling. The bar was classier than most that I’ve visited in this area. The bar was a large L shape and the rest of the bar consisted of dark wooden tables. A two man band was getting ready to play behind the bar. One guy had a guitar and the other had a set of bongos. I was sitting right in front of them, yet when they started to play, it wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t hear the person sitting next to you. It was actually very nice. On tap they had several micro brews. A quick look around revealed that people weren’t drinking Bud or Miller. They were drinking pints of Belgium Ale’s, IPA’s, stouts, etc… The price for a pint of beer was around $4, which is what I would expect to pay for a better quality beer. Good Point about the bar: There was a good selection of beer here. Bad Point about the bar: Although there were other shops and stuff around, the bar is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. To get to this bar I had to drive through some areas where I could easily hide a body and no one would ever find it. Um, er, not that I have ever needed to hide a body or anything. :) White trash factor (1-10): 3 Ratio of girls to guys: 1:2 Crowd density: medium Age of the crowd: 21-35 Overall rating: 7 – The bar seemed like a pretty decent place to hang out. |
