Evan was at his parent’s house in Rockaway and I was home at my moms house in
Westwood, so we decided to meet halfway in between in Morristown. I’ve never been
here before, but it seems like a cool town with a lot of bars. I’m sure I’ll be back.
The Office is a chain bar with 8 other locations. The only other one I’ve been to is in
Ridgewood, and that one is pretty cool so I figured this one would be the same. The
crowd wasn’t quite as big as I expected, but it wasn’t half bad.
The atmosphere of the bar can be described as a preppy sports bar. The awning
outside is black and white striped and the floor has alternating black and white tiles. The
interior walls are light colored wood.
One of the staples of the Ridgewood location is the yards of beer. I was hoping they had
them here, but unfortunately they only had the half yards, which still weren’t too bad.
They’re still pretty big and look like they contain about 4 pints of beer or so. The price
was about $7. Plus, you get attention when drinking them and I am an attention whore.
*It should be noted that I later found out that they no longer serve the yards of beer at
any of their locations. Apparently people have no self control over their actions anymore
and they ordered yards of beer and then got a little intoxicated. Basically, the place was
scared of getting sued by someone who drank too much. This will negatively affect their
rating, of course.
The selection of beers is much better than your average bar. They have many different
varieties of beer from Germany, Belgium, England, Czech Republic, etc… They vary
from wheat beers, to lambics to bocks and many more. There is a beer here for every
pallet.
Good Point About the Bar: The waitress only charged me for one of my half yards of
beer. Maybe she felt bad for not having the yard glasses. Maybe she was turned on by
my good looks. Maybe she just forgot to put it on. I guess we’ll never know.
Bad Point About the Bar: They didn’t have the yard glasses
I saw a lot of bars while driving through Morristown, so I’m sure I’ll be back here again to
hit the rest of them.
White trash factor: 1 - This bar is more geared for the preppie type. Not too many WT
here.
Ratio of girls to guys: 1:2 - Like always, there were more guys than girls, but the women
that were there were fairly attractive.
Crowd density: Medium/Low
Age of the crowd: twenties - thirties
Overall rating: 7 - The Office is a fun place with a lot of great beers. Although they don't
have the yards any more, the half yards are still kind of cool, I guess. The food isn't bad
either.
