Sal and Annie's
Pascack Rd
Washington Twp (Bergen Co.)

My friends and I realized that it has been 10 years since we graduated high school, and
nobody ever planned a reunion.  So my friend Jen decided to email everyone on the
Westwood High School Alumni web page and have everyone meet at a bar instead.
This seemed like a better idea for a reunion than some big dinner thing.   I would say
that about 10-15 people showed up, so I would call that a success.  The bar had a
good crowd regardless, so it was a fun time.  It was fun getting drunk and reminiscing
about old times.

On a quick side note, one of the people that showed up from my high school class was
Lara.  I sat behind her in Life Science class in the 7th grade.  Because I was immature, I
used to throw body parts at her when ever we dissected anything.  Well, it's been 16
years since then, so I decided to apologize to her and she told me that it was water
under the bridge.  Secretly however, if the opportunity presented itself again, there is a
fair chance that I would do the same thing because I have matured very little since the
7th grade.

At first glance you would think that Sal and Annie's is just a liquor store, but in the back
there is a small bar.  A pitcher of Coors $8, which isn't that bad for North Jersey.  We
had to drink out of plastic cups, but it was the day after Thanksgiving and the crowd
was bigger than normal so I can understand.  They reminded me of college, and like
college I must have drank about 18 of them.  Unfortunately, my tolerance has dropped
somewhat since college, so I got a little (lot) drunk.  Towards the end of the night I
picked up the wrong cup and started to drink out of one with a cigarette butt in it.  My
friend Michelle stopped me, but it was way gross, and I decided that that was my clue to
stop drinking.  It was like  2:30 in the morning and it was time to stop drinking anyway.

The age of the crowd varied a lot.  Because the bar is a small family owned place, a lot
of the people there were friends and family of Sal and Annie.  The rest of the crowd
were mostly younger people from the area.  As a matter of fact, some of the people
looked a little too young.  I am getting old however and I know that both Sal and Annie
are very responsible, so I'm sure that everyone there was carded and of legal age.

Good Point about the bar:  I got to drink with a guy named Ian, who was here visiting
from England.  At last, here was someone who appreciated good quality beer.  It was
also entertaining listening to his accent when he got drunk.

Bad Point about the bar:  Because the bar was pretty small, the band that was playing
was so loud that you couldn't hear the person standing next to you.  My throat hurt from
yelling all night, just to talk to people.

White trash factor (1-10):  1

Chachi Guido factor:  4

Ratio of girls to guys:  2/3

Crowd density:  Medium/High

Age of the crowd: teens to fifties

Overall rating:   7 - For a small bar in the back of a liquor store it was actually a lot of
fun and had a good crowd there.  Sal and Annie are pretty cool and Annie shares the
same birthday as me.  Plus, Sal is a big guy and if I give his place a low score he might
do physical harm to me.
