Maloney's Pitney Tavern
200 S Pitney Rd
Galloway, NJ 08201
(609) 748-7008

Although they list the address of this bar as Absecon, according to the map it is technically in
Galloway.  I used to live down the street from this bar and I’ve been here many a nights and I’
ve seen plenty of drunken debauchery.  As a matter of fact, my brother met his wife in this bar
on one of those drunken nights.  Since moving out of the area, it’s been a long while since I’ve
been here, so I called up PJ who was dog sitting in Absecon, and we headed over.

Once Stockton University is in session, the bar is packed almost every night, especially
Tuesdays.  It’s late August and school isn’t in session for another week, but there was still a
good crowd there.  The crowd was just a little older though.

There are two bars inside, one main bar and one smaller one.  There is also a dining room
that is somewhat separated from the bar, but people start to wander in there as it gets later
and busier.  There are also two pool tables located near the smaller bar.

The beer there is pretty cheap.  A pint of Yeungling costs only $2.25.  Because of their
cheapness we ended up drinking far too many of them as usual.  I ordered some nachos and
they kind of sucked, but the other food that I’ve had there is usually pretty good.

Good Point about the Bar:  There’s a bartender there that can perform crazy math calculations
in his head.  This is always amusing when you are drunk.

Bad Point about the Bar:  There is a piece of driftwood on the wall that looks like the face of
Satan.  They even put small lights in the eyes.  I think it steals the souls of people as they sit at
the bar.  It would have stolen PJ’s and mine, but fortunately, we have no souls.

White trash factor:  6 - When the Stockton students arrive, they will dilute the number down a
bit.  It really depends when you go in.  I've been in there on nights when I would rate it a 9 and
others when I would rate it a 4.

Ratio of girls to guys:  1:1

Crowd density:  Medium - The bar area was pretty crowded, but the dining room area was
empty.

Age of the crowd: twenties - twenties - forties

Overall rating:  7 - The Pitney is a great place.  The beers are cheap, there is usually a high
ratio of women and even the WT are usually pretty cool there.  On weekends there is a DJ and
there is always a very energetic atmosphere.
