| St. George's Pub 4282 Harbor Beach Blvd Brigantine April 23, 2005 After drinking with the high rollers over at Resorts Casino, PJ and I headed over the bridge to Brigantine. We drove around looking for bars, but we had to be careful because we already had a few drinks and there seemed to be a lot of cops around. After being followed by a cop down Brigantine Blvd for a while, I decided to pull off the road into a small strip mall. It is here that I found St. George's. The bar was fairly new looking. Although it was somewhat dark inside, everything was light in color. The bar top was a green formica and the wood was lightly stained. It had the feeling of a bar that you might find in someone's basement, only bigger. The bar itself was a large rectangle and the remaining open space had tables for people to come in and eat. The other half of the bar was a liquor store. There were no pool tables or anything else in the bar. The crowd was young with only one or two people that I noticed over the age of 30. There was also an even mix of men and women. I can only assume that this bar gets busier in the summer time, as this is a beach town, but there was a medium crowd density. It was also about 1 A.M. when we got there, so there might have been a bigger crowd earlier. A pint of Yuengling cost $3.25. I ordered a pint of Yuengling, which cost $3.25, and PJ ordered a water because she is lame. (note: I considered revoking her barfly status, but decided to let her go with a warning.) After sitting there for a while, PJ started to build up the nerve to ask a guy across the bar if she could buy him a drink. It took me a while to convince her to do this, but she finally called over the bartender and asked him. Of course as she went to point the guy out to the bartender, the guy was gone. A short while later, he walked out of the bathroom and out the front door, never to be seen again. Although I found this highly amusing, PJ did not. Although she was drinking water, she put $10 on the bar to buy this guy a drink. The bartender took the ten and said, "Thanks for the tip." I also found this very amusing. Good Point about the bar: It was a good clean bar with a young crowd. The crowd also wasn't all dudes. Bad Point about the bar: The bar served its purpose, but was pretty bland. Most of the people there were clicky, so it was difficult to talk to people and socialize. White trash factor (1-10): 2 Ratio of girls to guys: 1/1 Crowd density: Medium Age of the crowd: ~21-30 Overall rating: 4 – The bar was pretty boring and uneventful. It is a good place to go and grab a beer with your friends, but it completely lacks character. It the end it was just a bar in a liquor store. Here is a pic of PJ and I in the bar. Notice the classy t-shirt that I'm wearing. |
